Since the launch of the Federal Greener Homes Grant Initiative in 2021, people in our community have been leaders in the fight against climate change by upgrading their homes with new insulation, heat pumps, windows, and solar panels. Reep Green Solutions’ Registered Energy Advisors assisted homeowners with 2,175 EnerGuide Home Energy Evaluations, including both initial assessments and follow-ups. We’ve successfully helped homeowners save an average of 1,094 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year after they followed our recommendations to make 1,128 energy efficiency upgrades.

Real Stories, Real Impact:

Behind the numbers and energy-efficient upgrades, there are real people experiencing the benefits of home energy evaluations. Our participants share stories of their new comfort, unexpected savings, and a sense of pride in contributing to a healthier planet.

“We were shocked by our first utility bill after upgrading insulation. Our house is just so much more comfortable. I can totally feel the difference.”

– Marcia from Kitchener, Ontario

Heather from Cambridge, Ontario, echoes the sentiment of many satisfied homeowners. We had fantastic service from start to finish. We especially appreciated the added service Andrew provided to help us pick the right heat pump for our home.”  Home energy evaluations have been a proven tool for guiding homeowners to the most efficient improvements in their homes.

Funding for the Greener Homes Grant?

It has made the national news that the Greener Homes Program will soon run out of budget. Without rebates, we leave many homeowners without the means to invest in improvements to their energy efficiency and make the needed transition away from fossil fuels

“The program is running out of money three years too early, and organizations, like Reep, have been here before three times in the past, having to wind down popular energy efficiency incentive programs.”

A Call to Action for a Sustainable Tomorrow:

To ensure Canada continues its critical greenhouse gas reduction momentum, we urge the Government of Canada to:

  1. Secure Extension Funding: continue Canada Greener Homes Grant Program until a new initiative is ready for introduction, or
  2. Prepare for the Future: Be ready to launch a new program immediately after Canada Greener Homes winds down in March 2024

This is a call to action – a plan for a greener, more equitable low-carbon future.

Together, let’s send a clear message that we support climate action!
