“We chose Reep because it is an ethically driven organization which cares about our environment and was not out to “sell us” anything but a list of projects we could complete to make our home and pocketbook happier!”
Anne and Andy’s journey with Reep Green Solutions began almost 10 years ago. Their home in Ayr, Ontario, was “drafty, energy bills were high, and it was time to invest in better quality products for the long haul.”
They had their first energy evaluation with Reep back in 2004 to take advantage of the ecoENERGY Retrofit Program. Reep recommended several areas to improve windows, doors and insulation. After installing those retrofit upgrades, “We realized the payoff was significant, and we started looking at other areas we can tackle to help us and the environment. This is where Reep stepped up again and offered one of their free workshops to educate the public. We attended a presentation on Solar Energy.”
Anne and Andy hired Merlyn Power, a local contractor to install solar panels to their home. “Over 5 years later, and zero hydro bills (except for delivery), we could not be happier,” said Anne.
Although their home’s efficiency was good, they realized they had extra energy that they were producing and going back to the grid. So, they decided to look at what else they could do to make it more cost-effective for their home and better for the environment.
Thanks to the federal Greener Homes Grant Program launching in 2021, they decided to get another energy evaluation with Reep. They opted to invest in an air source heat pump and heat pump water heater and are now producing enough energy for all their electrical needs and are no longer using natural gas.

“Reep has been extremely supportive every step of our journey, and access to the rebates was the cherry on top with the government programs helping the financial side of the plan! We are confident we made the right choice working with Reep and know this investment will pay for itself in a few years.”
When asked what advice they would give to other homeowners, they said, “Our advice to anyone wanting to renovate is to ask questions, get an energy evaluation, connect with Reep, explore government grants, and take care of your investments and our environment!”
