Nick has shared their exciting journey with us when upgrading their home to include a cold climate air source heat pump system, heat pump water heater and solar panels. He mentions that he lives just down the street from the Reep House and has a close friend who works at Reep Green Solutions. It was this friend who recommended the energy program to him. Furthermore, the generous loans offered by the Canada Greener Homes Grant and Loan programs was what prompted Nick to seek out a home energy evaluation. Our advisors were eager and ready to assist them as quickly as possible, and we set up an evaluation straight away to start Nick off on his home sustainability journey.

In the end, the improvement he made to his home has led to tremendous cost savings on Nick’s electricity and utility bills. On average, they are only spending $100 per month compared to the average $196 dollars for a standard apartment. Above all, Nick says it “just feels good,” to heat, cool and operate his house largely by the power he’s generating. It just goes to show how these upgrades can help drastically reduce overall power consumption from the grid!

The most important advice that Andre and Barbra want to give to those interested is, “Call now. While Reep can help with what is technically possible at any given point in time, Reep also has up-to-date information regarding possible rebates and incentives.”

Nick was incredibly grateful for the rebates and loans. He says that he wouldn’t have been able to spend this much money on the home efficiency upgrades without the Greener Homes Grant and Loan. He’s particularly excited about the amount of power his solar panels generate, creating enough excess energy to help pay back the interest-free loan by selling his excess power.

Nick says, “Even if you can’t proceed with any upgrades right away, the energy efficiency report was incredibly useful to tell you which upgrades are most impactful, when you’re ready.” He emphasizes that having this detailed information provides peace of mind, as it allows homeowners to plan ahead and make informed decisions. The report helps prioritize the most effective improvements, so when the time comes to move forward, you can focus on the upgrades that will deliver the greatest benefits in terms of energy savings and comfort.

Additionally, Nick described his positive experience with Reep Green’s registered energy advisors. Even though it has been two years since his evaluation, he still remembers the memorable experience he had with our courteous, thorough, and professional advisors.
“Our home energy audit through Reep Green Solutions gave us the encouragement we needed to disconnect our home from natural gas by switching to heat pump systems. By installing solar panels at the same time using the Greener Homes loan, we are now a lot closer to a net-zero home!”

Reep Green Solutions’ Home EnerGuide Evaluation is one of the best options in town to maximize your rebates for many of your home energy upgrades.
Our Registered Energy Advisors will examine your house from basement to attic to assess its energy use and building envelope. You will receive a report that will contain a number of prioritized recommendations to improve your home’s energy efficiency. This will help fix high energy bills, air leaks and drafts, poor insulation of windows and doors, and address heating/cooling problems. The evaluation may also identify issues such as dampness, mould/mold or mildew in your home, which could lead to health problems.
We have a licensed service provider agreement with Green Communities Canada. They are licensed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to use the EnerGuide Rating System, Canada’s advanced system to rate home energy consumption, provide recommendations customized for your home and support you through any incentive programs.
